Outdoors is a very temping environment for a thief to explore, but you can make it extremely difficult for them to get into your garden.
> Fit lights which come on when it gets dark and then switches off when it's light. Alternatively fit lights with sensors that automatically detect movement and switch on.
> Ensure all fences are in good repair and that panels can't easily be moved. Replace worn panels immediately and keep well stained or painted.
> If you can fit a 6 foot (1.8m) fence then do so - this is more likely to deter a burgular.
> Fit a padlock and bolt on the inside of any garden gate to help secure it.
> Laying gravel around the edges of property (on pathways, driveways etc) looks nice and also makes it impossible for anyone to approach without making a noise.
> Plants are a great way to protect property. A selection of prickly or thorny plants planted near potential routes into a garden buts an additional physical barrier in the way. [more on plants here]
