1. Don't leave keys in locks on on full view.
2. Cancel milk and newspapers deliveries when you are on holiday, and ask the post office to put your mail on hold until you return.
3. Use timed light fittings to make your home appear occupied whilst out. Especially useful in winter when with dark mornings and darker evenings.
4. Use a timer to switch on a radio when you are away from home - make it appear occupied.
5. Lets friends or neighbours know that whilst you are away they can park on your drive to make the property look occupied.
6. Tell friends and neighbours your away and ask someone to keep an eye on the place. Get someone to open and close curtains and blinds.
7. Don't leave tool or equipment lying around outside.
8. When packing your car for your holiday, don't make it too obvious - a opportunist burglar might just make a mental note that you will be away.
