Sheds are great garden items, reletively cost effective and easy to erect they tend to store all of our expensive garden equipment, but more often than not, they are not secured adequetly.
> Ensure that the shed is either close to the house or easily visable from the house.
> Ensure that the door, door frame and walls are sound and solid. Replace any worn or broken panels quickly with new sections.
> Quite often, sheds are left unlocked or without any appropriate security (i.e. chains, padlocks etc). By installing the simpliest of locking devices you are helping to cut the prospect of a theft.
> If glazed, replace any glass with laminate (it is less easy to break) and consider placing a steel grill on the inside to help strengthen this usually easy access point.
> If appropriate, consider a good quality window lock for your shed window.
> Use metal fixings and chains on the inside of the shed to secure your valuable items to, so they can't be removed without a key.
> Battery powered alarms are cheap, portable and extremely effective.
> Also make sure that your household insurance policy covers theft from your garden and any outbuildings.
